Baró
Baró was founded by Maria Baró in São Paulo in 1999. From the beginning, the gallery positioned itself as a space for experimentation and critical dialogue, rooted in international collaboration and institutional partnerships. Representing artists of multiple generations and geographies, Baró promotes both established and emerging voices. Its curatorial vision aims to connect the Global South with the broader contemporary art landscape, fostering cross-cultural exchange through a dynamic and forward-looking program.
Over the years, the gallery broadened its international scope, introducing works by artists such as Wilfredo Prieto, Song Dong, Christian Boltanski, Tatiana Trouvé, Roman Signer and Dennis Oppenheim. These collaborations marked a decisive expansion of the gallery’s vision, aligning it with a global discourse while maintaining strong ties to the Latin American context. Today, the gallery represents 25 artists from over 15 nationalities, supporting practices that address the cultural, social and political complexities of the contemporary world.
In 2021, Baró opened two new spaces in Mallorca, housed in a 17th-century building in Palma’s historic centre. This expansion marked the beginning of a new phase, establishing a curatorial dialogue between Latin America and the Mediterranean region.In 2025, Baró inaugurated a space in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with O-Contemporary. The project emerged from more than a decade of engagement with the Middle Eastern art scene through collaborations with leading regional collections, institutions and art fairs.
That same year, Baró opened a new gallery in Paris, marking a further evolution of its programme. The Paris space brings together historical reassessments of seminal artists such as Lygia Clark and David Medalla with contemporary practices by artists like Yussef Agbo-Ola. Through these dialogues between historical and contemporary practices, the gallery explores how artistic legacies continue to shape current artistic production while forging new connections across cultures and generations.
Across its locations in Mallorca, Abu Dhabi and Paris, while maintaining an active presence in Brazil through exhibitions and collaborative projects, Baró develops exhibitions that connect artists, institutions and audiences across different cultural contexts, creating new conversations between the Global South and the broader international art scene.Baró regularly participates in major international art fairs including ARCOmadrid, Art Basel Miami Beach, The Armory Show, Art Dubai, Frieze Abu Dhabi, and SP–Arte, actively promoting its artists through a sustained presence within the international art fair circuit.

Baró Galeria is pleased to present Eroded Horizon, Daniel Arsham’s fifth collaboration with the gallery and his second exhibition at Baró Mallorca. Presented as part of Art Palma Summer 2026, the exhibition brings together a selection of recent and previously unseen works that move between sculpture, drawing, and painting.

Pagan Tales: The Golden Moon

Baró Mallorca is pleased to present Pagan Tales: The Golden Moon, the first solo exhibition in Spain by Brazilian artist Estevan Davi, with a critical text by Iñaki Martínez. The presentation takes place during Art Palma Summer 2026, the annual program of coordinated gallery openings across the island. Following his participation in the group exhibition Cannibal Nature in Mallorca in 2025, this project marks the artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and his return to the island.

Baró is pleased to present Against Time by artist Erwin Olaf, on view at the Next Door space at its Mallorca headquarters, Spain. The exhibition opens to the public on May 23, 2026 and is part of Mallorca PhotoFest, an international festival dedicated to photography and contemporary image-making which, in its inaugural edition, brings together galleries, institutions, and cultural spaces across the island through a program of exhibitions and activities.
