A guest room is a place prepared to receive someone arriving from outside.

During Nit de l’Art, Florit/Florit temporarily occupies the Bulthaup Mallorca Nicolau showroom with a group exhibition bringing together the artists represented by the gallery.

The Guestroom brings works developed across very different practices and contexts into a space designed for everyday life. Here, the works coexist with objects, materials and elements of domestic architecture, forming relationships that would be unlikely to occur within the gallery.

They do not arrive to decorate the space, but to inhabit it for a time. As with any guest, their presence subtly alters the order of the house.

Miedo al colapso (Fear of Breakdown) brings together an installation by Alejandro Leonhardt and a selection of drawings by Dasha Shishkin, between two forces: containment and excess.

Leonhardt presents the outcome of his residency at Florit/Florit, developed around materials salvaged from a bank that disappeared in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. The installation brings together bank safe-deposit boxes, a vault door and other remnants of a heavily secured financial architecture designed to safeguard valuables.

Their imposing materiality gives physical form to an abstract financial system: an entity invested with authority through its own protocols and restricted-access spaces.

Returning to these remnants, Leonhardt uncovers and reinterprets traces of human presence: small clues that expose cracks in the system.

In Shishkin, the fissure emerges where forms lose their boundaries. Her drawings unfold a universe populated by figures that multiply, become entangled and blur into one another. Bodies appear open, unfinished and in constant transformation.

Drawing becomes a space where anything is possible. A hand can have eyes; a body part can take on a life of its own and tell a story different from that of the person it belongs to. A single figure can contain several characters, voices or desires. It is through this excess that the grotesque emerges: a carnal energy that spills beyond the body and subverts systems of order.
