Nit de L'Art

La Nit de l’Art is the keynote event that marks the start of exhibition season in Palma. A must on the artistic calendar all over Europe, year after year this very special weekend attracts a coterie of people with an active interest in contemporary art, including artists, gallerists, collectors and institutions.

In September 1997, the gallery owners Pep Pinya and Xavier Fiol organised, by way of the AIGAB independent association of Balearic Islands art galleries, the first of these Nit de l’Art events: the opening to one and all, at midnight, of all the Palma galleries in unison, as the first city in all of Europe to celebrate Nit de l’Art. Over time, the innovative venture has gained followers to become an international success, an event that sets the tone for the city and the island over a few days, in a clear affirmation of the great value of culture and contemporary art to our society.
